Donald Trump may deride Jeb Bush as a “low-energy” candidate, but energy will be high on Mr. Bush’s agenda when the Republican presidential candidate visits the region Tuesday.
The former Florida governor is scheduled to visit the Canonsburg headquarters of Rice Energy on Tuesday afternoon, when he’ll discuss his energy policy, Bloomberg News reported Friday. The visit is part of a roll-out of policy proposals for Mr. Bush, and his choice of site likely offers a clue about his priorities: Rice drills for oil and natural gas in the Marcellus and Utica shale formations.
Mr. Bush has long championed the hydrofracturing technology that allows drillers to tap those formations. Prior to his presidential run, he was invested in a company with active leases in Pennsylvania.
Rice Energy spokeswoman Kimberly Price said Friday evening the firm had few details about the visit. “We are thrilled [Mr. Bush] is going to be here,” she said.
